Special Events at Beamish 2010
During the summer months, a variety of fascinating, additional events are held in the appropriate settings of The Town, Pit Village and Pockerley Manor. There's no extra charge for these – admission is included in the museum entry charge*.
Beamish Power from the Past – Thursday, 15th to Sunday, 18th April
From horse power to steam power and everything in between ! Horse drawn vehicles, bicycles, motorcycles, stationary engines, steam rollers, tractors, railway locomotives, traction engines and a host of fascinating machinery on display and in action.
Beamish Georgian Spring Fair – Thursday, 3rd to Sunday, 6th June
A recreation of the hustle and bustle of a Georgian Spring Fair at Beamish. Enjoy a short, guided walk through the Georgian landscape, see labourers at work in the fields and the workers for hire. Watch traditional craftsmen demonstrating their skills and meet the trinket sellers and strolling entertainers.
Beamish Great North Steam Fair – Thursday, 2nd to Sunday, 5th September
Relive the golden days of steam. Visiting locomotives are in steam at the Beamish Railway Station and Colliery and much more besides. With vintage vehicles, steam rollers, traction engines, stationary engines, the magnificent colliery winding engine and guest appearances of fabulous machines. A must for steam and transport enthusiasts alike.
Beamish Agricultural Show – Thursday, 16th to Sunday, 19th September
Enjoy a traditional agricultural show and experience all things rural. With demonstrations of ploughing, country crafts and agricultural machinery alongside displays of ‘fur and feather’, livestock and industry classes.
Halloween – Friday, 29th & Saturday, 30th October
Beware of the ghosts and ghouls in the award-winning Town ! Enjoy all the atmosphere of Halloween in this wonderful setting and sample the Halloween fare on offer in the Dainty Dinah Tea Room.
Christmas – Saturday, 20th November 2010 to Sunday, 2nd January 2011
A whole season of Christmas festivities when The Town and Pit Village take on a festive feel with period decorations from the early 1900s. There will be traditional entertainment and, at weekends, Father Christmas in his cosy fireside grotto. It’s how every Christmas ought to be !
